"Hotels should be living things not stuffy institutions" maintain Tim and Kit Kemp, owners of Firmdale Hotels. There are seven boutique hotels in London including Covent Garden, Haymarket and The Soho Hotels and Crosby Street Hotel in New York. The high standards of excellence and unique townhouse style of decoration have over the years added up to a winning combination. Kit Kemp has designed the interiors of each hotel in her unique personal way which reflects a fresh, modern English style. She was named the Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the Year in 2008 and has gone onto win many more accolades.
Firmdale Hotels will open its eighth London property, Ham Yard Hotel, in June 2014. The hotel revolves around a unique tree-filled garden, its centrepiece being a specially commissioned bronze sculpture by Tony Cragg. Alongside the hotel’s 90 individually designed bedrooms and suites are 24 residential apartments, 13 personally selected retail stores and an airy restaurant and bar with outdoor dining and drinking. There is a sumptuous drawing room and library as well as the Soholistic Spa and Gym, 176 seat theatre, several spacious private dining and event rooms including a 50’s style bowling alley.
